Matt Plaskoff

Is Matt Plaskoff the King of Bathroom Remodeling in Los Angeles?

Matt Plaskoff is an interesting guy. He works tirelessly on his business, managing seven full-time construction crews and their support teams. He logs over 100 hours per week in client design meetings, performing numerous walk-throughs of completed projects, all as he negotiates the mine-field of everyday construction issues like a star Running Back breaking through a defensive line.

In addition to his livelihood, his still finds time for his three daughters, three dogs, his lovely wife… and his life-long passion – surfing.

One may ask… what makes him so interesting?

The answer lies in his business history and mission. To Matt, bathroom remodeling is not just a repetitive act of construction in the most unglamorous room in the house – it is a chance to change people’s lives for the better. In his decades of remodeling high end homes, he has come up with a process to deliver a quality product without the normal headache that comes with so many remodeling projects.

“The bathroom is one of the most important rooms in the home” said Matt. “A well designed space has a positive effect on our overall attitude and outlook. That is my secret – transform a space, transform a life.”

Matt’s view on changing “people’s environment” is nothing new to the staff and clients of One Week Bath; however he recently took the concept of “environment” to a whole new level.

One Week Bath just commemorated a significant milestone – its 2000th bathroom remodel. The company did it in a meaningful fashion by donating three bathroom remodels to Heal the Bay’s Santa Monica Pier Aquarium. The donation included a full remodel of the two main public restrooms and the sole staff restroom.

“We wanted to do something special to commemorate the achievement and make a donation that would have a big impact. When we called Heal the Bay and learned that the public restrooms of the Santa Monica Pier Aquarium needed help, we knew we found a great recipient,” said Matt.

Matt, who grew up in Santa Monica and received a degree in marine biology, wanted to give back to a non-profit that is close to his passion. “The health of the Santa Monica Bay is something I am very passionate about. Knowing that these bathrooms are going to serve millions of kids that come to the aquarium to learn about marine biology makes this one of the most meaningful projects in my career.”

The project took five days to complete with a formal ribbon cutting on October 12.

Heather Doyle, the Executive Director of the aquarium said it best “A ribbon cutting ceremony to commemorate remodeled restrooms may not sound newsworthy at first glance, but when the remodeled bathrooms happen to be in Heal the Bay’s Santa Monica Pier Aquarium, and the company that completed the remodeling did all the work for free – well, that’s something to celebrate.
