Hi, it’s Matt from One Week Bath with our continued series of short videos on bathroom design, product selection, and remodeling. Today we’re going to discuss the concept of a “correct design.”
One of the questions I’m asked all the time is, “have you ever had someone ask you to do things in the design that were flat out ugly? And what did you tell them?” Of course, we’ve had people ask for things that we didn’t feel went well together, because not everyone is going to have the same taste or vision for their bathroom remodel. For example, we had a client request a Dodger themed bathroom, complete with baseball door handles. While not everyone is going to love that, we did our best to ensure the client’s vision was captured and brought to life.
When remodeling your bathroom there are some basic design principles you should consider. Will the selected colors work well together, or will they clash? Will your selected patterns complement one another? Will the selected products provide the right amount of contrast? Are the proportions accurate and is your layout functional?
The most important thing to remember is that it’s your bathroom! Are you going to enjoy it? Are you going to love the finishes, the function, and the feel? Every day when you walk in are you going to feel good? We provide input if we feel that the client’s design preferences won’t be functional, or in our opinion won’t be pleasing to the eye. However, the final decision rests in the hands of the client.
One last thing to consider. Are you selling your home? What might be wonderful for you might not be wonderful for a future homebuyer. One Week Bath can help!
